Books, Bytes & Beyond is an independent book business in Glen Rock, NJ. From 1992-2013, Books, Bytes & Beyond served the area as a retail store in the center of Glen Rock, working closely with schools and libraries to bring both books and authors to children.
Over the past few years, our school and library business has continued to actively grow. This growth is due primarily to our success in planning and coordinating in-school author visits, providing books used with school curriculum and our expertise in developing guided reading leveled libraries for classroom use. We also have been working to expand our involvement with Common Core Standards and how to use trade books to fulfill these objectives. Because of this, we decided to shift our focus from a retail business, allowing us to concentrate our efforts on our valued relationships with schools and teachers, continuing to offer and enhancing our services to classrooms and libraries.
We also focus on assisting teachers and schools in building stronger reading lists, stocking classroom and school libraries, and hosting author and book signing events. Continuing to put books into the hands of young people and provide them with opportunities to interact with authors is vital to the education of our children and a passion we’re honored to pursue. We look forward to servicing you and your school!
About the Owner
Mary Brown is the owner of Books, Bytes & Beyond. She has been involved with children’s literature for over 25 years as a book seller and educational consultant. Books, Bytes & Beyond also specializes in author events and, over the past 21 years, has hosted hundreds of authors at schools and libraries in the Tri-State area. Most of Mary’s efforts are now spent in curriculum advising, author events in the community and local schools and consulting for educators on the development of leveled libraries for their classrooms. She is also working with schools to help them find the right books for use in meeting the requirements of the Common Core curriculum.
